Top 7 Best-Selling Earbud Headphones in 2023 – Wired and Wireless Options

With Bluetooth capability becoming standard in many mobile devices, it’s no surprise to see the demand for wireless earbuds continue to grow. Typically, these earbuds connect to a mobile device through Bluetooth or Wi-Fi technology, although wired earbuds are still available.

Wireless earbuds also come in many styles, from earbuds that rest in your ears to earbuds that fit behind your cheekbones.

In the Media & Tech Lab, our team of engineers, scientists and consultants tests and evaluates headphones, earbuds and ear buds, making sure they meet their performance claims.

We test the sound quality, which we use to define frequency response, loudness, dynamic range, distortion and headphone isolation.

We also evaluate the comfort and ergonomics of each model, evaluating materials, padding and overall fit. While wireless earbuds can be more expensive, we have tested many wireless models and found that they sound just as good as their wired counterparts.

Here are the best wireless earbuds of 2023, according to popular reviews and best-selling models:

Panasonic ErgoFit Wired Earbuds, In-Ear Headphones with Microphone and Call Controller, Ergonomic Custom-Fit Earpieces (S/M/L), 3.5mm Jack for Phones and Laptops – RP-TCM125-K (Black)

The Panasonic ErgoFit is among the most popular wired earbuds on the market, largely due to its comfort. Its cord is long enough for exercise, and the headphones can fold up and fit into a very small space when not in use. The sound quality is also impressive, with above-average bass response and a nice balance of mid and treble.

The headphones have a 3. 6-foot cord and a 6mm jack, but they come with a 9. 2mm adapter, so you can use them with phones and computers with 3. 5mm jacks.

The buds are lightweight, too, and Panasonic rates the battery life at 30 hours, though in our tests, they lasted about 18 hours per charge. As for downsides, the earbuds have a permanent, albeit slightly muffled, sound, so those who like to hear all frequencies will appreciate other brands.

Also, the headphones don’t have an in-line remote control, so they aren’t as suitable for people who are always on the go.

TOZO T9 True Wireless Earbuds Environmental Noise Cancellation 4 Mic Call Noise Cancelling Headphones Deep Bass Bluetooth 5.3 Light Weight Wireless Charging Case IPX7 Waterproof Headset Black

The TOZO T9 delivers excellent sound quality and a superb design. They pack a lot of features into a small package: Automatic noise reduction, noise-canceling microphone, voice control, and IPX7 waterproof rating. In our testing, the earbuds also survived an accidental dunk in a shallow dish of water.

The earbuds take a 30-minute charge, and they provide 6 hours of playback, which is how long we expect they’ll last for most people.

The carrying case doubles as a wireless charging dock, so you can easily charge the earbuds without a separate charger. If that sounds appealing, the T9 earbuds are a decent deal, but if you have a different pair of earbud headphones that you prefer or are perfectly content with, these are probably overkill and not worth the cost.

LG TONE TRIUMPH HBS-510 wireless Bluetooth headset – Black

The LG TONE TRIUMPH HBS-510 delivers solid sound for both calls and music. The audio is clear and distortion-free, and the music sounds just as punchy as it does through more traditional wired earbuds.

At under $20, it’s a good value, and if you’re seeking something a little more luxurious, the LG TONE PRO HBS-730 isn’t much more expensive and sounds even better.

But if the point of wireless earbuds is to reduce cable clutter, the LG TONE TRIUMPH HBS-510’s retractable wire management is convenient.

The downsides: The Lg TONE TRIUMPH HBS-510 is not noise-canceling, so surrounding noise sometimes bleeds through.

Also, the earbuds don’t sound as full and booming as they do with the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless earphones, nor do they have the same deep bass response.

The Lg TONE PRO HBS-730 gets our nod as the best-sounding wireless earbuds, but it’s worth noting that they cost $300, which is twice as much as the HBS-510.

Bluetooth Headphones, Wireless Earbuds IPX7 Waterproof Sports Earphones 15H Playtime with Mic HD Stereo Sound Sweatproof in-Ear Earbuds Sound Isolation Headsets Gym Running Workout

The Otium U8 wireless headphones have been a long-rumored, always-promised and currently undelivered upgrade from Otium’s long-running line of Bluetooth earphones.

While Otium’s previous earphones received middling reviews, U8, as its new smartphone headphones dubbed it, has far better sound quality, better connectivity, and much better battery life.

It’s also more comfortable. However, unlike Otium’s previous earphones, U8’s sound isn’t quite as impressive, and it isn’t quite as sweatproof. U8’s sound is richer than most smartphone boomboxes, though, and it’s an excellent choice for athletes who need a wireless solution. U8 also has strong battery life: It’s IPx7 waterproof and sweatproof, which means you can sweat with it on and still use it without worrying about water damage.

JVC Earclip Earbud Sport Earbud Earclip Black (HAEC10B) (HA-EC10B)

The JVC HA-EC10B is an affordable, supplied-with-the-headset stereo headset that’s a good choice for listening to music and voice calls on a smartphone. It has a comfortable and neutral fit, and the included three interchangeable earpiece sizes mean it’s compatible with a wider range of ears.

It’s compatible with most Android and iOS devices, including the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus and Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, though you’ll lose call functionality on some devices, including the Galaxy S8, because the JVC doesn’t use the same Bluetooth network as Samsung.

If you’re looking for great value in a supplied-with-the-headset stereo earbud headset with excellent sound quality, the JVC HA-EC10B is a good choice.

Jabra Talk 25 SE Mono Bluetooth Headset – Wireless Single Ear Headset with Built-in Microphone, Media Streaming, up to 9 Hours Talk Time, Black

The Basics:The Jabra Talk 25 SE is a bit of an odd duck on our list. At $105, the SE is less expensive than most other Bluetooth headsets we’ve tested, and we found it to be slightly uncomfortable.

But $10 cheaper doesn’t buy you much these days, and for $105, the Talk 25 SE delivers decent call quality for a wireless headset.

JVC Gumy in Ear Earbud Headphones, Powerful Sound, Comfortable and Secure Fit, Silicone Ear Pieces S/M/L – HAFX7B Black

The JVC Gumy in ear earphones have powerful sound, great fit, and a long, 3.3-foot cord. They’re comfortable, too, and because they come with three sizes’ worth of earbud tips, they’re easy to wear.

The buds themselves have a nice, soft, pliable silicone coating that gives them a snug, comfortable fit in the ear canals without slipping around.

The JVC Gumy in ear earphones have deep, powerful, and clean sound that’s on a par with more expensive earbuds.

They produce rich, full bass and sparkling, clear highs. They’re also comfortable enough for regular use, with no ear fatigue despite long periods of listening.

The 3.3-foot cord is long enough for most portable devices, and it swivels so you can easily orient it where it’s most comfortable.
